Florida 2030 Project

The Florida 2030 Project

Are You Ready to Put the Long-Term Ahead of the Short-Term?

Florida is now the third most populous state and by 2030, six million more residents will call Florida home and two million more jobs will be needed. To prepare for this continued growth and ensure Florida remains successful, the Florida Chamber Foundation is leading the charge to write the blueprint for Florida’s future — Florida 2030. This two-year research program will stimulate strategic thinking about Florida’s future and engage business and community leaders in each of Florida’s 67 counties and identify key trends and the factors that can drive their regional economy. Florida 2030 is our opportunity to work together to strengthen your community, business and future. The future belongs to all Floridians and we need your help to plan for the future.

An intersection study was performed in March 2014 for the State Road 15 (U.S. 17 / S. Orange Avenue) at State Road 16 (Leonard C. Taylor Parkway) intersection in Clay County. The study revealed that the intersection experienced approximately nine crashes per year from 2010 to 2012. The prominent safety concerns included the southbound and westbound rear-end crash trends, the north-south left turn crash trend, and the angle crash trend exiting the State Road 16 gas station driveway. As a result of the study, FDOT has decided to improve the safety and operational characteristics of the intersection and adjacent driveways through turn lane additions, lengthening of existing turn lanes, using protected-only signalized left turns, and construction of a traffic
separator along SR 16 for access management.
