First Lady Ann Scott Kicks Off 2017 Summer Literacy Adventure in Tallahassee

First Lady Ann Scott welcomed more than 30 students from Springwood Elementary School to the Governor’s Mansion on May 1 for the seventh annual Summer Literacy Adventure kick-off. The Summer Literacy Adventure challenges students to pledge to read as many books as possible over the summer, with the goal of students maintaining and improving upon the skills they gained during the previous school year.

Snook Season Ends May 31

Snook is open to harvest in Atlantic state, federal and inland waters, including Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River, through May 31, closing June 1.

SB 10 Passes

Everglades and Estuary restoration took a big step forward with the passage of SB 10, the EAA Reservoir bill. With a vote of 33-0 in the Senate and 99-19 in the House, the bill that was a priority for Senate President Joe Negron of Stuart passed and proceeds to the Governor for his signature.
